Project Type: Internship
Role: Lead Graphic Design Intern
Deliverables:
The No Excuses Foundation is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization located in Houston, TX that organizes and hosts well organized and exciting events and such as sporting events, dance team exhibitions, and fashion shows in an effort to fund scholarships that promote the educatiional needs of high school and college students.
I worked with this team as the lead graphic design intern between March 2021 and August 2021. This was an exciting internship opportunity involving the creation of graphics in all formats such as web, social media, print, and merchandise. I was also provided with the opportunity to strengthen my website building and administration skills.
I worked, primarily with their pra-am basketball league, No Excuses Pro League along with their dance sqaud, NEX Pro Dancers. Their style is quite decorative and grungy, so it was always a welcome challenge to attempt to provide a layout that effectively communicated their intended message and included all of the provided typographaphical information while adhering to their preferred stylization and overall appearance!

Print Ready Materials
I completed quite a few designs for print during my time with No Excuses. These are just a few of examples of flyers and posters. I also created several concessions menu variations, instructional sheets for attendees to pay via CashApp, as well as several other flyers and posters. All were delivered via PDF CMYK, in proper, format with all printer's marks included.
Web and Social Graphics
This type of work was a major part of my internship. I, not only, created countless posts for the website, Google Docs, EventBright, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, but also created .psdt and .ait templates for incoming interns once designated as “lead intern”. All were delivered in proper web or social formatting with regard to image aspect ratio, file size, and color format.
Instructional Materials
After being tasked with the creation of template files for incoming interns, I took it upon myself to create some simple layouts for instructions on how to create some of templates that require editing beyond simply replacing smart objects. The one pictured here is for a player of the week graphic.
